I have an 8 port sitting on my desk in my office running 1.1.1.
I realize this isn't the type of switch you would normally have sitting on your desk... But i've been testing some configurations on it.
The room here is 74 degrees and the fans in this switch are running at 9000RPM.
I thought since some version back these things would lay back to a pretty slow speed?
BTW, the switch isn't powering anything right now either.
8 Port, loud fan?

Strange, mine is powering two radios right now... 1.2.0rc5 and running 2460rpm, board temp is 93F, CPU 115, and PHY 117.

Re: 8 Port, loud fan?
Yea we re playing with the fans obviously.
The PHY Temps from the chips the manufacturer say have an accuracy of +/1 10% or so and in some versions we are using those values in the fan calculation and other we are not.
There is an internal debate on this issue but with the MINI switches you have a board that is SMALL which means it does not disipate heat as well as larger boards and the boards are FULL.
We are still doing thermal testing on our switch lines (TAKES BLOODY FOR EVER) so you wil find the fans being adjusted from version to version as the debate rages on.
Also remember the 60+ PRE-REALESE WS-8-250-AC units out there with the WHITE decals have the Poly Fuses that we decided to stop using before the current production batches because they trip before we like based on board temp so we turned the fan speeds up to try and combat this issue.
Over the next month we will settle down on fans speeds as one side or the other wins the argument or we decide on a logic that will better decide which seed they should be using based on current state of environment and load.

Say what? On a 8 port?
Yesterday I unplugged my WS24 because of the loud fans. Waiting for rc6 or whatever is next. I was going to cut everything back over from my ES24 to the WS24 but the ES24 is quieter now.

You can downgrade v1.1.1 or just deal with the UI bug until we release v1.2.0rc6 maybe later today
