Ahhh! Thanks, Chris. Then I have a feature request to be able to reset counters on a port by port basis (e.g. I click the "Errors" and up pops the display for that port... I'd like to be able to reset only those counters rather than the entire switch).

I will ask Eric, not sure if we have the option to do that as those error counts are in the switch core and I do not know if they give that option but I will ask.

First thing i have to say is totally impressed in what you have build and look forward to purchasing this switch when you get the bugs fixed.

My one question i do have on the subject of port power reset.

Can the Ports be auto configured to power cycle each week/Month ?

I have found in my experience that the wireless radios do not like to stay powered up for a long time and having such a busy life I tend to forget to cycle the radios on a weekly or monthly basis.

Only to have one of the remote sites go down because I have forgotten to reset them.

So the only thing i have found that works is a unit in California (Multi-link) that is programmable to power cycle the whole site once a week. If i could save on the cost of purchasing these it would be an even greater bonus to purchase the switch besides all the neat things you have already included in the interface.

I will say I have found one ugly thing about the switch, when Chris gets done with his board issue I'm sure he'll provide the information.... but if you're planning to run the 120volt version of the switch off of a power inverter that is running off a battery bank you need to really over spec that inverter.....

I maxed out an 800watt inverter on power bootup from the switch, even though it's rated at 400watts. I have no idea how much it's drawing -- but it must be a ton on bootup.

Nope... the inverter was dedicated to the Netonix switch.

We over spec'd everything.

The power supply is a 400 watt convection cooled power supply which means it rating was based on maintaining 400 watts without cooling fans up to 50C before the de-rating curve begins. We actually tested the power supply up to 520 watts just fine.

What does this mean:
Well when you power up the switch the power supply will accept and inrush current that can get pretty high becuase it is capable of higher than 400 watts but once it is running the power consumption goes down to what it is loaded to.

But it also means that since it was designed to be convection cooled at 400 watts but we added fans that it will out produce specs and the MTBF will be higher!


We have a DC version coming soon! We have already switched back to that task since we solved this problem and production has resumed as of today.

I thought we were all tired of under powered devices???
